<p>During the last depression, New Deal funds came to parts of northern New Hampshire to build recreational facilities and promote tourism. In that pre-condo American Skiing Company world, The Civilian Conservation Corps built ski trails and the Canon Mountain aerial tramway to promote skiing as a legitimate industry in rural areas. Near Berlin, NH the city joined with the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Youth_Administration">National Youth Administration</a> to build the Nansen Ski Jump.</p>
